Many of you have contacted us about the current situation in Haiti; some of you would like to go to help on site, some of you are asking for advice about where to send your donations.

Clearly the only help we can provide right now is monetary, donating to those organizations which are already in the field helping the victims. We at Kakok Foundation do not have any particular link with any organization working in Haiti right now but we think that it is important to take into account the difficult logistics that exist right now. Only those organitations with the means to act now can be effective in helping the victims. From Ile a Vache we hear that they fear shortages of food, water and fuel. They have already experienced doubling of prices for basic supplies. They also expect an inflow of people from the main land.

The clinic is well equipped with medicines that we had just bought few weeks ago, plus a recent shipment we made from Miami and the supplies of medicines left behind by the USA medical team that has been working for the past week. Also we had just sent a transfer to cover the salaries and some expenses for the first quarter of the year and we have been able to confirm that the money reached them just before the earthquake.

Regarding the school, all books and materials arrived few months ago and salaries are paid until the end of this month. We are monitoring the situation with the banks to see how we can make additional wire transfer to the school.
